Sorry to bother you all with PTA business, but to keep our tax-exempt status, there are guidelines I must follow.
Attached are the bylaws for PTA. These bylaws need to be renewed every 3 years and are up for renewal soon. changes must be submitted 30 days before voting for approval. The proposed changes are as follows:
1. The PTA council was reformatted and has been changed from the "Skyline Council" to "Aspen Council" ( note, only name is different, nothing else is changed from current reporting)
2. A "Quorum" for our PTA consists of 15 members. This is the required number of members needed to vote on any issues. We would like to decrease this to 10 members to make voting easier.
3. PTA dues increased on the state level. We would like to change the Upland Terrace PTA dues to $8.00 to cover these changes.
4. We would like to amend the bylaws by opening up the potential for co-presidents. see ARTICLE VI SECTION 4. We would like it to read "Officers of this PTA/PTSA shall be a presidnt or 2 co-presidents, a president-elect, etc.
Also I need to notify you all on the future PTA presidents. We have 2 people interested in doing this job next year and both options will be put on a ballot for voting.

For president-elect (to be PTA president the year of 2014 - 2015) Kathleen Rich has so kindly volunteered.
A general member meeting is scheduled for April 11, 2013 at 9:30 at Upland Terrace . These changes and the new PTA president for the 2013-2014 school year will be voted on. We will need at least a quorum for this meeting.
